Welcome to Johannesburg!

Arrive in Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city, where your safari adventure begins. Meet your fellow travelers and gather for a group transfer to your hotel. Take some time to unwind and explore the vibrant surroundings. This evening, enjoy dinner at your leisure, savoring the local cuisine and setting the stage for the exciting days ahead. Overnight at City Lodge Johannesburg.

Journey to Makgadikgadi Pans

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Maun, Botswana. Once there, embark on a scenic 90-minute drive to Meno a Kwena, your intimate camp for the next few days. Settle in and unpack before heading out to explore Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Marvel at the stunning scenery and search for antelope before enjoying a welcome dinner back at camp, toasting to the adventures that lie ahead.

Culture and Wildlife in the Kalahari

Start your day with a walk alongside the Kalahari Bushmen, learning about traditional hunting techniques and local culture. Near the river, keep an eye out for wildlife, including lions, elephants, and giraffes. After a day of exploration, relax in your tent, watching elephants and other animals from the comfort of your accommodation. After breakfast, drive back to Maun for your flight to the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, settle into your luxurious safari camp near Moremi National Park, complete with a refreshing swimming pool. Head out for an afternoon game drive, keeping your eyes peeled for the area’s majestic predators. Return to camp for dinner, reflecting on the day’s thrilling wildlife sightings.

After breakfast, catch a short flight to your next camp, Sable Alley. Upon arrival, take time to explore your surroundings, where wildlife often comes to you. Morning Walks and Mokoro Rides

Start your day with an invigorating morning walk through the bush, immersing yourself in the serene sounds of nature. After breakfast, relax and enjoy birdwatching from the camp. Off to Victoria Falls

Leave the Delta behind and fly to Kasane, followed by a scenic 90-minute drive to your hotel in Victoria Falls. Settle into the luxurious Victoria Falls Safari Club and take some time to explore the area. Enjoy dinner at the hotel, gearing up for the spectacular experiences that await you at one of the natural wonders of the world.

Marvel at Victoria Falls

Spend the day exploring the breathtaking Victoria Falls, with views from various vantage points along the forest path. Experience the thrill of a helicopter flight over the falls, capturing stunning photographs from the air. Conclude your day with a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, spotting wildlife while toasting to your unforgettable adventure.
The falls are formed as the full width of the Zambezi River plummets in a single vertical drop that is over 5,000 feet wide. There are also two islands on the crest of the falls that divide the flow of water.

Bid farewell to your new AdventureWomen friends as you all depart Victoria Falls and make your way back to Johannesburg where you will board your flight back to the U.S.

City Lodge Johannesburg Airport

Conveniently located at Africa’s busiest airport. Offers guests access to a wide variety of retailers, restaurants and banking facilities within the airport building. The Hotel is equipped with a fitness room and a pool deck.

Meno a Kwena

A tented camp that provides guests with a unique African wildlife experience. Nine luxurious guest tents, all with en-suite bathrooms, overlook a river often flooded with elephants and other animals.

Kanana

The newly renovated Kanana property is located in the Okavango Delta and is home to an abundance of birds, plants, and animals. The tented lodges are spacious and well finished with a bathroom and shower.

Sable Alley

Sable Alley is a complete rebuild of a favorite old bush camp. Overlooking a lagoon that’s connected to the River Khwai, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve. From the camp’s swimming pool, lounge, and outdoor seating area there is an uninterrupted view of large herds of plains game, elephants, and buffalo coming to drink.

FAQs

Absolutely! We happily welcome all women regardless of race, creed, or sexual preference, as long as you are physically capable of doing the activities on your chosen trip. Our guests range from 18-85+! It is important to us to talk to each guest to make sure each woman chooses the right trip for her physical ability and interest.

You can process your registration on our online booking system or over the phone. Most deposits are $800. In many cases, and unless otherwise indicated, your deposit is transferable if you notify us in writing 120 before your trip departs.

Be sure to check the ‘What’s Included’ section of the trip you are interested in. Once you get to the departure city and meet the group, we often include most meals, all accommodations, all activities (although there might be an optional activity at an additional cost), transportation while on the adventure, qualified local guide(s) and some trips also include an AdventureWomen Ambassador. Our trips do not include airfare to/from the arrival and departure cities. However, internal flights are included in some itineraries so please read the itinerary carefully.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! Many of the women who travel with AdventureWomen come solo. For those that do not choose a single supplement, we pair you with a roommate. Usually, when we change accommodations on a trip, we will change roommates if we can, so you get a chance to know others in our group. A limited number of single supplements may be available for an additional charge.

That depends entirely on the trip! AdventureWomen adventure travel trips are rated according to the physical fitness level demanded by the included activities.

  • Moderate: These adventures exercise your mind more than your body and are designed for women who prefer a leisurely, less rigorous experience. For example, you could walk up to 2 miles per day through cities and villages, stand in museums for a few hours, relax on a boat, or view wildlife from a vehicle.
  • Active: Adventures that get you on your feet! You should be in good physical condition where you are comfortable walking on uneven surfaces, such as cobblestone streets, biking manicured nature trails or kayaking calm waters.
  • High Energy: These adventures are designed for women who enjoy a physical challenge and crave being on the go! You should be prepared for itineraries that include (but are not limited to): a full day of biking on a rolling terrain, hiking 5-8 miles on moderate to steep trails, being active at high altitudes, whitewater rafting, or skiing.
  • Challenging: Adventures that get your heart rate pumping, these are demanding yet deeply rewarding and designed for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. You should be in excellent physical condition, and be able to hike up to 10 miles, in steeper, more rugged terrain.
