Overview

Welcome to Iceland!

Arrive at Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavík in the morning or the day before. After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll head out on foot to explore Reykjavík with lunch in a local bistro. In the afternoon, participate in a workshop making your own totebag out of icelandic flowers. Settle in at the hotel for a well-deserved rest after a busy day and a taste of Icelandic delicacies.

Visit to Snæfellsjökull National Park and Sea Kayaking

Begin the day kayaking in Breiðafjörður Bay, known for its islands and wildlife, like puffins and seals. Learn kayaking basics, explore a shipwreck, and delve into the area’s history and geology. After lunch on your own, hike through Snæfellsjökull National Park, showcasing Iceland’s stunning geography, from the Snæfellsjökull Glacier to mossy lava fields and rugged cliffs Declared a National Park in 2001, it offers diverse landscapes to enjoy. End the day with a scenic drive to your hotel, followed by a group dinner.

Eclipse Viewing, Culture, and Nature

Today, experience the 2026 total solar eclipse, in one of the best places to witness this event. Totality begins at 17:58 UTC, briefly turning day into night for about 2 minutes. Iceland offers exceptional views, but clear skies are essential—be prepared for unpredictable weather. Before the eclipse, explore Víðgelmir, Iceland’s largest and renowned lava cave, visit Johanna Bermann’s at the Icelandic Goat Conservation Center, who brought the last four hornless goats in Iceland from the brink of extinction. Discover Hraunfossar waterfall, where spring water cascades over a lava field, and unwind at Krauma Spa, fed by Europe’s most powerful hot spring.

Thingvellir National Park, Great Geysir Hot Spring and Waterfall

Next up is historic Thingvellir National Park with its extraordinary natural amphitheater, where almost every important moment in Iceland’s history has taken place. Continue to the Great Geysir hot spring area and Gullfoss Waterfall (the Golden Waterfall), two of Iceland’s most famous sights. You’ll enjoy lunch on your own today, then embark on an exhilarating guided buggy adventure and discover the enchanting Haukadalur Valley along the way.

Walk to Picturesque Waterfalls and Horse Farm Discovery

Drives toward the Þjórsárdalur Valley, enjoying a stop at the beautiful Hjálparfoss waterfall along the way. Stretch your legs at Viking ruins (Stöng) and walk to Gjáin, a tiny valley with picturesque waterfalls, tranquil ponds, and delicate volcanic structures–perfect examples of Iceland’s natural beauty. Enjoy a picnic lunch in an Icelandic forest, then head to the Syðra Langholt horse farm, where you’ll get to take a brief ride on the famous, gaited Icelandic horse. On your way back to the hotel, stop for a soak in the natural hot springs of the Secret Lagoon where the temperature of the water stays at 100-104 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. End this wonderful day with a dinner feast at Restaurant Mika, which specializes in seafood dishes and handmade chocolate.

Farm Visits and Farewell Dinner

Drive to Tungufell Farm, where the woman of the house is an artist and seamstress who designs beautiful examples of Icelandic National Dress. Head to Friðheimar, a charming farm where tomatoes are grown in geothermally heated greenhouses. The farm also breeds and raises prize-winning Icelandic horses! Here you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the horse stables and learn all about the Icelandic horse, which is known for its diversity of gaits, coat colors, strength, health, and good spirit. Enjoy lunch at the cozy Greenhouse restaurant. After arriving back in Reykjavík, spend time at the Sky Lagoon for a soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters. Opened in 2021, this outdoor spa is a great way to relax after a busy day. Enjoy a celebratory farewell dinner with your new friends to celebrate the end of a fantastic adventure!

Depart Iceland

Enjoy your last few hours in Reykjavik this morning before you check out of the hotel. On your way to the airport, explore the Reykjanes peninsula, with its vast lava fields and breathtaking coastline. Hotel Geysir

The trademark of Iceland, the great Geysir, gave the hotel its name and Geysir is situated right outside the front door of the hotel. Haukadalur is one of Iceland’s most famous historical sites, both ancient and today. The geothermal field surrounding the Great Geyser is the definitive geyser, having given its name to the geological phenomena. Strokkur, another famous geyser located at the hot spring area, gives a performance every few minutes, shooting a tower of water and steam 30 meters into the air.

FAQs

Absolutely! We happily welcome all women as long as you are physically capable of doing the activities on your chosen trip. Our guests range from 18-85+! It is important to us to talk to each guest to make sure each woman chooses the right trip for her physical ability and interest.

You can process your registration on our online booking system or over the phone. Most deposits are $800. In many cases, and unless otherwise indicated, your deposit is transferable if you notify us in writing 120 before your trip departs.

Be sure to check the ‘What’s Included’ section of the trip you are interested in. Once you get to the departure city and meet the group, we often include most meals, all accommodations, all activities (although there might be an optional activity at an additional cost), transportation while on the adventure, qualified local guide(s) and some trips also include an AdventureWomen Ambassador. Our trips do not include airfare to/from the arrival and departure cities. However, internal flights are included in some itineraries so please read the itinerary carefully.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! Many of the women who travel with AdventureWomen come solo. For those that do not choose a single supplement, we pair you with a roommate. Usually, when we change accommodations on a trip, we will change roommates if we can, so you get a chance to know others in our group. A limited number of single supplements may be available for an additional charge.

That depends entirely on the trip! AdventureWomen adventure travel trips are rated according to the physical fitness level demanded by the included activities.

  • Moderate: These adventures exercise your mind more than your body and are designed for women who prefer a leisurely, less rigorous experience. For example, you could walk up to 2 miles per day through cities and villages, stand in museums for a few hours, relax on a boat, or view wildlife from a vehicle.
  • Active: Adventures that get you on your feet! You should be in good physical condition where you are comfortable walking on uneven surfaces, such as cobblestone streets, biking manicured nature trails or kayaking calm waters.
  • High Energy: These adventures are designed for women who enjoy a physical challenge and crave being on the go! You should be prepared for itineraries that include (but are not limited to): a full day of biking on a rolling terrain, hiking 5-8 miles on moderate to steep trails, being active at high altitudes, whitewater rafting, or skiing.
  • Challenging: Adventures that get your heart rate pumping, these are demanding yet deeply rewarding and designed for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. You should be in excellent physical condition, and be able to hike up to 10 miles, in steeper, more rugged terrain.
