Welcome to Jordan

Upon arriving at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman, you’ll be greeted by a trip coordinator to assist with immigration. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel, a 30-60 minute drive depending on traffic. After check-in, relax before starting your Jordanian adventure. Group transfers align with most guests’ arrivals; private transfers are available for a fee. Enjoy dinner independently and prepare for the journey ahead. Exact transfer details will be shared closer to departure.

Jerash, Ajloun and Hike in the Bergesh Forest

Start your day with a visit to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the Middle East. From there, head to Ajloun for a scenic hike through the lush Bergesh and Wadi Zubia Forests, a rare landscape in Jordan. Conclude your trek in the village of Rasoun, where a local family will host you for a freshly prepared traditional Jordanian lunch. Return to Amman for an overnight stay, with the afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. Your hike will be approximately 5 miles with 3.5k ft gain and 3.2k ft loss, with total driving time 3.5 hours

Start your day in Dana with a breathtaking hike through the Dana Biosphere Reserve, descending into a valley rich with wildlife and stunning landscapes. Covering ~8.5 miles in 5–6 hours, the trail features a steep descent before easing into gentler slopes. Watch for Griffon vultures, colorful lizards, and traces of desert foxes or ibex. End at Feynan EcoLodge, where a guided sunset walk offers sweeping views of Wadi Araba, complemented by Bedouin tea.

Little Petra Hike and Arabic Coffee Traditions

Start your day with a lesson on preparing traditional Arabic coffee. Later, drive two hours to Al Beida and embark on a 5-mile hike through the captivating Little Petra site, discovering ancient ruins and a Neolithic village. Petra Hike: A Hidden Entrance to the Ancient City

Begin your hike to Petra via the peaceful ‘Back Door,’ avoiding the crowds. Descend through the serene Wadi Ghurab, winding among sandstone mountains, and follow an ancient Nabataean route to a natural rock terrace offering views of Wadi Siyyagh. Your first glimpse of Petra’s Monastery awaits, where you can pause for Bedouin tea. Continue through Petra along the Main Trail (8-10 mi.) or Madras Trail (11-13 mi), both leading to Wadi Musa. The 5–6 hour hike covers an elevation gain of 1,620 feet and loss of 1,700 feet. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, with dinner on your own.

After breakfast, drive to Wadi Rum to visit the Disi Women Cooperative, where you’ll connect with Bedouin women as they revive local history and traditions through pottery making and storytelling. Explore Wadi Rum’s stunning valleys, canyons, and dunes, discovering ancient rock inscriptions and breathtaking mountain views. Um Ad Dami Summit: Jordan’s Highest Peak

After breakfast, drive one hour to the base of Um Ad Dami, Jordan’s highest peak at over 5,900 feet. Hike to the summit for breathtaking views of the surrounding desert, with the Saudi Arabian border to the south and Jebel Rum to the north. The climb, covering approximately 2.5 miles, will take 3–4 hours, with an elevation gain of 1,300 feet. Enjoy a delicious desert lunch before transferring to your Wadi Rum camp to relax and enjoy a group dinner

FAQs

Absolutely! We happily welcome all women as long as you are physically capable of doing the activities on your chosen trip. Our guests range from 18-85+! It is important to us to talk to each guest to make sure each woman chooses the right trip for her physical ability and interest.

You can process your registration on our online booking system or over the phone. Most deposits are $800. In many cases, and unless otherwise indicated, your deposit is transferable if you notify us in writing 120 before your trip departs.

Be sure to check the ‘What’s Included’ section of the trip you are interested in. Once you get to the departure city and meet the group, we often include most meals, all accommodations, all activities (although there might be an optional activity at an additional cost), transportation while on the adventure, qualified local guide(s) and some trips also include an AdventureWomen Ambassador. Our trips do not include airfare to/from the arrival and departure cities. However, internal flights are included in some itineraries so please read the itinerary carefully.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! Many of the women who travel with AdventureWomen come solo. For those that do not choose a single supplement, we pair you with a roommate. Usually, when we change accommodations on a trip, we will change roommates if we can, so you get a chance to know others in our group. A limited number of single supplements may be available for an additional charge.

That depends entirely on the trip! AdventureWomen adventure travel trips are rated according to the physical fitness level demanded by the included activities.

  • Moderate: These adventures exercise your mind more than your body and are designed for women who prefer a leisurely, less rigorous experience. For example, you could walk up to 2 miles per day through cities and villages, stand in museums for a few hours, relax on a boat, or view wildlife from a vehicle.
  • Active: Adventures that get you on your feet! You should be in good physical condition where you are comfortable walking on uneven surfaces, such as cobblestone streets, biking manicured nature trails or kayaking calm waters.
  • High Energy: These adventures are designed for women who enjoy a physical challenge and crave being on the go! You should be prepared for itineraries that include (but are not limited to): a full day of biking on a rolling terrain, hiking 5-8 miles on moderate to steep trails, being active at high altitudes, whitewater rafting, or skiing.
  • Challenging: Adventures that get your heart rate pumping, these are demanding yet deeply rewarding and designed for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. You should be in excellent physical condition, and be able to hike up to 10 miles, in steeper, more rugged terrain.
