Yellowstone Winter Wonderland: Photo Journey and Guest Reviews
This winter, eleven women and their AdventureWomen guide, Leslie Stoltz, explored the beauty of Yellowstone National Park during the best time of year – prime wildlife viewing season with the fewest number of visitors. They enjoyed snowshoeing, wildlife viewing, dog sledding and photographing Montana’s Yellowstone ecosystem. Here are some beautiful photos and guest reviews from our 2016 Yellowstone Winter Wonderland trip in Montana. A special thanks to Kaye Allison for all these fabulous photos from her Yellowstone photo gallery, and also a sprinkling of photos from Carolyn Gorman and Leslie Stoltz.
The trip really exceeded my expectations. Leslie’s facilitation of the trip and the camaraderie of the group was amazing. I simply could not wait to get up in the morning, to start the day, and experience what was next.
I came home with a new appreciation for… Snow – on the nose of a bison, as it crystallizes around a geyser pool, the sound of it crunching below snow shoes, as it is kicked up by excited dogs, and as it falls softly and quietly at the end of a satisfying day.
The one thing I am dying to tell my family and/or friends about this trip is… The breathtaking beauty of the park in the winter. Words can’t adequately describe the wildlife, the geysers, the landscape – all within the Winter Wonderland of Yellowstone.
I came home with a new appreciation for… The untouched beauty of Yellowstone…and the lack of commercialism.
I came home with a new appreciation for… The wild things – bison, bald eagles, wolves.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that… I would see the volume and variety of wildlife in such a short period of time – fantastic!
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that… I would drive a dog sled.
The dog sledding was amazing and thrilling.
The one thing I am dying to tell my family and/or friends about this trip is… Dog sledding!!

The power of friendship.
The wonderful new Adventure Women I have met on this trip!
How wonderful it is to do new things, seek experiences, and to enjoy the outdoors with like minded women.
The one thing I am dying to tell my family and/or friends about this trip is…
The beauty, animals, snow shoeing, dog sledding and the amazing women I was with.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that…
I could live in close proximity to 11 other people for a week and love it.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that…
I would voluntarily choose to spend time outside in single digit weather to snowshoe several miles and spend time observing the amazing & prolific wildlife!
That I would be following a wolf pack’s tracks in the snow as I snowshoe’d – even beyond my bucket list!
The one thing I am dying to tell my family and/or friends about this trip is… Ummmm…EVERYTHING!
The one thing I am dying to tell my family and/or friends about this trip is… What an ‘Adventure Woman’ I am!
I found out something about myself on this trip. It was…
A reconfirmation of my love of the outdoors, the beauty of nature, the excitement of seeing wildlife, the camaraderie of a group that loves the same thing.
I really do love adventure and the outdoors.
AdventureWomen is the best, the trip was so amazing. The most wonderful guide, Leslie, and so organized. The trip was beyond my expectation! The women were awesome – have made wonderful friends.
I found out something about myself on this trip. It was…
That I’m ready to venture out of my comfort zone.
That I need to continue to “push the envelope and try new things”.
Getting ready early in the morning to go out into the cold gets easier every day! (But it is still the hardest part of the trip…)
That I was able to push myself harder physically than I thought possible.
That there are so many more adventures that I must do.
What I remember most are the moments when I felt especially present and so happy with what I was experiencing, the sleigh ride at dusk with the snow falling and of course when it was my turn to drive the dogsled, just the most amazing and thrilling experience.
The one thing I am dying to tell my family and/or friends about this trip is…
That I lived in a “snow globe” for about a week!
The animal sightings! The weather! The vistas! The mud pots! The geysers! Snowshoeing! Dog sledding!
Leslie’s vast knowledge of Yellowstone and its inhabitants enhanced the experience immensely.
Leslie is amazing! I would follow her anywhere!
I came home with a new appreciation for… The history and geology of Yellowstone, thanks to Leslie’s wealth of knowledge and her easy way of sharing it with us.
