Your Adventure, Your Way
Each of our women’s travel adventures has been carefully evaluated to determine the precise level of fitness and physical exertion required so that our guests can determine which trips align best with what they are looking for in terms of active adventure.
Our five levels of fitness are: Easy Pace, Moderate, Dynamic, High Energy, and Challenging. We are here to help you choose the trip that’s right for you.
Level One: Easy Pace
Our Easy Pace trips are thoughtfully designed for women who enjoy gentle activity, cultural immersion, and plenty of time to savor the scenery. These adventures feature light walking, easy terrain like cobblestone streets or flat nature trails, and optional activities such as city tours, wildlife safaris, and scenic boat rides. This level offers a relaxed pace with flexible itineraries and minimal physical exertion.
What to Expect
- Avg. Distance/Day–Less than 3 miles
- Avg. Activity Time–0-3 hours
- No elevation gain
- Minimal Altitude, up to 7,500
Typical Terrain
- Urban explorations and/or flat wildlife safari environment
- Well-maintained nature trails that may include some uneven surfaces
- Navigating a few flights of stairs
Level One is ideal if you
- Are able to walk or engage in continuous activity at a gentle easy pace for up to 3 hours on occasion
- Have good balance and coordination to navigate multiple flights of stairs, enter and exit boats safely, and handle light activities.
- Enjoy diverse activity options and adaptable itineraries allowing you the freedom to relax at your hotel
Level Two: Moderate
For women who enjoy staying active, balanced with some downtime, our Moderate trips offer a blend of movement and relaxation. Activities may include walking on gently rolling trails, with occasional uneven terrain like forest paths or shallow creek crossings. With activities like beginner kayaking or short e-bike excursions, this level is perfect for those eager to explore while trying something new.
What to Expect
- Avg. Distance/Day–4-7 miles
- Avg. Activity Time–3-5 hours
- Minimal elevation gain
- Minimal Altitude, up to 7,500
Typical Terrain
- Flat or gently rolling dirt trails that are well-maintained with minimal obstacles
- Some uneven surfaces–such as forest paths, short muddy sections, or shallow creek crossings–that may include exposed roots or small rocks
Level Two is ideal if you
- Have basic walking/hiking experience and are comfortable moving at a moderate pace on varied terrains such as dirt trails or forest paths
- Like to engage in moderate daily activity while still having some time to relax each day
- Enjoy trying new activities and experiences while maintaining a balanced itinerary
Level Three: Dynamic
Designed for adventurous women ready for a challenge, our Dynamic trips feature regular activity on varied terrain with moderate elevation gains. Expect natural obstacles such as rocky paths and shallow creek crossings. From glacier walks and whitewater rafting to ziplining and kayaking in calm to lightly-choppy waters, this level is perfect for those with hiking and outdoor experience and a sense of adventure.
What to Expect
- Avg. Distance/Day–5-8 miles
- Avg. Activity Time–4-6 hours/day
- Minimal to moderate elevation gain (up to 2,000 ft. elevation gain and loss)
- Low to Moderate Altitude (0-8,000 ft.)
Typical Terrain
- Diverse terrain with moderate challenges, including uneven surfaces, gentle to moderate inclines
- Natural obstacles such as a shallow creek crossing and occasional rocky or root-covered paths
Level Three is ideal if you
- Have experience hiking on moderately challenging terrain, including uneven surfaces, inclines, and natural obstacles
- Can handle varying levels of physical exertion that elevate your heart rate and breathing but still allow for conversation
- Enjoy consecutive days of hiking/activities with a mix of adrenaline-pumping activities alongside nature exploration
- Are comfortable carrying a daypack of up to 20 pounds
Level Four: High Energy
Our High Energy adventures are designed for women who crave being on the go! You should be prepared for full days of hiking across rugged, moderate-altitude terrain. With some steeper inclines and rocky paths, these trips often feature back-to-back adrenaline-fueled activities like canyoneering, multi-day treks, and Class IV whitewater rafting—perfect for experienced adventurers and hikers with good stamina and a passion for pushing their limits.
What to Expect
- Avg. Distance/Day–6-12 miles
- Avg. Activity Time–Expect hikes every day
- Moderate elevation gain (up to 3,500 ft. elevation gain and up to 6,000 ft. loss)
- Moderate Altitude (4,000-8,000 ft.)
Typical Terrain:
- Uneven trails with steep inclines, rough terrain, and challenging obstacles
- At this altitude some people may start to notice breathlessness during exertion.
Level Four is ideal if you
- Have experience on uneven trails with steep inclines, rough terrain, and challenging obstacles
- Can handle strong physical exertion with heavier breathing
- Enjoy consecutive full days of hiking, big climbs, and long distances
- Are comfortable carrying a daypack weighing up to 20 pounds and possibly camping for 1-2 nights and/or staying in mountain huts
Level Five: Challenging
Our Challenging trips are crafted for seasoned adventurers ready to take on remote, high-altitude terrain, and full-day treks. These trips are demanding yet deeply rewarding and designed for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. You should be in excellent physical condition and be able to hike up to 14 miles per day with steep ascents, rugged trails, and elevations reaching 19,500 feet. These are strenuous trips that require endurance and a commitment to training before departure.
What to Expect
- Avg. Distance/Day–up to 14 miles
- Avg. Activity Time–Up to 10 hours
- High elevation gain (up to 4,000 ft. gain and up to 6,000 ft. loss)
- High Altitude (8,000-19,500 ft.)
Typical Terrain
- Challenging terrains that can be remote
- Trails often feature steep ascents, rugged terrain, exposed sections, and potential scrambling over rocks
- High-altitude trekking (8,000–18,000 feet) that may result in increased breathing and heart rate, mild shortness of breath during exertion, lightheadedness, fatigue, or headaches
Level 5 is ideal if you
- Are an experienced hiker comfortable with long distances, steep ascents/descents, and challenging trails
- Can handle vigorous physical exertion that results in heavy breathing
- Enjoy pushing yourself physically and mentally through consecutive long days of hiking, including high-altitude environments
- Are comfortable carrying a daypack weighing up to 20 pounds, camping for 2+ nights and more rugged accommodations such as huts, tents. and tea houses
- Are committed to training in advance and acclimating to high altitudes
