The Importance of Planning Your Next Vacation
There is relatively little research available that measures vacation effects. However if you have a trip planned, you’re likely already happier than usual!
A study published in the March 2010 issue of Applied Research in Quality of Life, looked at survey results from more than 1,500 people, almost 1,000 of whom had gone on vacations. The time off showed that workers were refreshed, but the effects were not long-lasting after returning to work. The study also showed, however, a marked increase in the self-reported happiness of vacationers in the weeks leading up to their trips.
So the implications are clear.
- Plan vacations well in advance, because it prolongs the anticipatory phase and increases total happiness.
Then how should you handle the dip in happiness upon returning to work?
- Start planning your next vacation right away!
So the moral of the story is: See AdventureWomen’s Trip Schedule and plan your next adventure vacation NOW!
