AdventureWomen is pleased to announce that we’ve joined Camber Outdoors, a non-profit that works with companies to elevate and accelerate women’s leadership in the outdoors. Originally founded in 1996 as the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC) within the trade association, the Outdoor Industry Association, Camber Outdoors has expanded the original mission of OIWC to champion:
mentoring
entrepreneurship
and leadership programming.
This up and coming platform for women supports career development among women interested in outdoor careers and has grown to over 170 corporate partners and over 4,000 individual members.
This is how excited we feel about partnering with Camber Outdoors:
Offering webinars and member-focused programs and networking events across the country (Camber Exchanges, Thought-Leader Keynotes, Executive Roundtables), Camber inspires women to pursue their dreams of building careers centered around the outdoors and like AdventureWomen, expand their “women-to-women” connections with other likeminded women – in this case, women business leaders.
Career Center and Job Board
The Career Center highlights women role models at Camber Outdoors partner companies as well as entrepreneurs who’ve built careers in the active-outdoor industries, and it includes resources for women looking to transition to careers in the outdoor space. They believe that “the active-outdoor industries will drive greater innovation and solve bigger problems when they attract, retain, and advance diverse talent with a passion for the outdoors.” They have a great platform called the Job Board where partner companies can post job openings to the top tier female talent in Camber’s network. It includes postings from 144 companies who have all committed to women’s leadership as a priority in the workplace.
Mentoring Program
Young professionals can join the Camber mentoring program where they can learn powerful lessons from experienced women leaders around the world. And companies in the outdoor industry who sign their CEO Pledge, help promote inclusive and equality-driven cultures at their worksites. Finally, women entrepreneurs can build their brands and their investor circles through presenting at the Camber Outdoor Pitchfest session at Outdoor Retailer.
Judi’s Take:
“I couldn’t be more pleased to champion women in the outdoors through our membership in Camber” notes Judi Wineland, co-owner of AdventureWomen. “Our corporate partnership with Camber and our participation in their innovative programs underscores AdventureWomen’s passion for helping women to discover more about themselves, challenge themselves and reach new heights – whether that be in their professional or their personal lives. I can’t wait to become a Camber mentor for other women pursing their dreams.”
