Imagine canoeing the Missouri River just like Lewis & Clark did more than 200 years ago or silently observing Alaskan brown bears and their cubs emerging from their winter sleep. Better yet, visit Utah’s National Parks and see where Thelma & Louise famously drove off a red rock cliff (hope we didn’t spoil the ending for you :)) Or combine a little California Gold Rush history with some 5-star wine tasting and active adventure!
Women looking to travel on their own in 2015 can do these activities and more this summer and join the company of other traveling women on four new U.S. adventure vacations from AdventureWomen. We’ve created these outstanding American adventures that offer you a chance to get “up close and personal” with nature but keep you from having to “rough it” all on your own.
Adventure vacations with us give you the ability to travel on your own terms, away from friends and family. Many women who travel on AdventureWomen trips tell us they love being totally themselves on our trips, not having to wear make-up and not having to coordinate family schedules. The best part about trips with us is – WE plan everything for you on our AdventureWomen active vacation. We give you the safety of traveling with a small group vs solo, on your own, and you have the opportunity to share experiences with other women with the same interests. We’re sure you’ll make some new friends along the way!
Our U.S. adventure vacations in 2015 include:
Follow the path of American adventurers Lewis & Clark in replicas of their canoes, but spend overnights in a more luxurious-style camp than afforded the explorers. We’ll paddle down the river toward its headwaters for five days, while passing white sandstone cliffs, the Missouri River Breaks and views that are nearly unchanged from the early 1800s. In the evenings, stay in private camps with a kitchen, 2-person tents with cots and self-inflating sleeping pads and more.
Retrace the paths of opportunists’ during California’s Gold Rush on this trip that discovers the state’s riches both past and present at some of its hottest destinations. Not only will we follow the routes of the California gold rush, we’ll kayak Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, visit wine country during harvest season, take an optional balloon ride over vineyards, hike past redwoods, watch cooking demonstrations and sail in San Francisco Bay. No roughing it here!
This trip to southeast Utah takes us on a wild west adventure that includes lots of hiking and whitewater rafting. With four nights at a hotel in Moab and two evenings camping on the Colorado River, we’ll head down the Colorado River past several well-known rapids for a two-day rafting trip. Then we’ll explore and hike in Canyonlands and Arches National Parks and stop at the site of the famous ending scene from “Thelma & Louise.” We end the adventure with a celebratory evening dinner cruise.
One of AdventureWomen’s most popular trips year after year, the Alaska Bear Viewing and Safari adventure takes you by bush plane to an Alaska Bear Camp to view and photograph grizzlies with their cubs in their natural habitat just emerging from their winter dens. We also take a wildlife cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park for whale watching to view humpbacks and orcas, and see puffins, sea lions, otters and sea birds.
