On a Dynamic trip, you might:

  • Enjoy consecutive days of hiking/activities for up to 3-4 hours a day at low to moderate altitude
  • Encounter diverse terrain with uneven surfaces, gentle to moderate inclines, and natural obstacles such as a shallow creek crossing, and occasional rocky or root-covered paths 
  • Be comfortable and physically fit to cover an average distance of 5-8 miles on some days

Welcome to California!

Arrive at Fresno, CA airport (FAT) by 2 PM local time, greeted by your local guide and transfer to your hotel in Three Rivers, just outside of Sequoia National Park. Enjoy a home-cooked welcome dinner where you can connect with your fellow travelers. Share stories and discover the unique reasons each woman in your group is excited to explore Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks

Hiking in Sequoia National Park!

Start your day with breakfast before heading into Sequoia National Park for a full day of hiking and exploration. Learn about the park’s iconic giant sequoias—including the General Sherman Tree, the largest living tree on Earth—as your guide shares insights into their history and ecology. Walk the scenic Congress Trail and, weather permitting, climb Moro Rock for sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada. Enjoy a picnic lunch among the trees before returning to the lodge. Dinner is on your own tonight with local recommendations available.

Hiking Details: Moro Rock: 0.5 miles, less than an hour, 150 feet of elevation gain & loss. This hike is weather-dependent and an alternative will be offered if necessary, General Sherman & Congress Trail: 3 miles, about 90 minutes, 500 feet of elevation gain & loss

Venture into Kings Canyon

Today, delve into the natural wonders of Kings Canyon National Park. Hike through tranquil Zumwalt Meadows and visit Roaring River Falls, where lush scenery and rushing water create a postcard-perfect backdrop. Enjoy views of Mount Whitney, the tallest peak in the lower 48, and savor a picnic lunch amid the beauty of the canyon. If time allows, take an additional short hike as you journey back toward Three Rivers. This evening, unwind over dinner with your group at your accommodation.
Hiking Details: Zumwalt Meadows & Roaring River Falls: 4 miles, about 2 hours, 400 feet of elevation gain & loss, Additional hike (time permitting): 0.5 to 1.5 miles, maximum one hour, with minimal elevation changes.

Horseback riding on your way to Yosemite!

Today, travel north to legendary Yosemite National Park. Make a stop in Mariposa on your way to your accommodation for a scenic 90-minute horseback ride through the beautiful Sierra Nevada forests. Enjoy lunch in Oakhurst at Bee’s Bakery, founded by a grandmother, now run by her daughter, and with the third generation working alongside her. Afterwards, head to your cozy cabin and enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by nature. Dinner is on your own tonight, with delicious options available at your lodge.

Exploring Yosemite Valley

Today, you’ll immerse yourself in one of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth: Yosemite Valley! Surrounded by towering 3,000-foot cliffs, you’ll wander past cascading waterfalls and hike alongside peaceful, meandering rivers. Embark on a challenging hike on the Mist Trail where you can soak in the natural beauty and iconic vistas of this unforgettable valley. Enjoy a well- deserved picnic or packed lunch with your group. Dinner will be on your own tonight.
Hiking Details Mist Trail: 6.5 miles, about 4 hours, 2,200 feet of elevation gain & loss

Hiking and (optional) Fly Fishing in Yosemite Valley

Today, you can choose to spend the morning fly fishing with an expert guide, enjoying four immersive hours of perfecting your cast as you walk and wade through the crystal-clear streams of the Sierra Nevada (additional costs apply). Lunch is on your own and various lunch options will be offered. In the afternoon, the group will head high into Yosemite’s breathtaking alpine terrain. Hike the Dog Lake Trail, a peaceful, shallow alpine lake surrounded by forest, wildflower-filled meadows, and granite scenery. Time permitting, we might also explore Pothole Dome and other scenic viewpoints like Tenaya Lake. As the sun begins to set, you’ll gather for a scenic farewell picnic dinner, sharing stories and reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the week.
Hiking Details : Dog Lake Trail (possibly with Lambert Dome: 5 miles, about 2.5 hours, 700 feet of elevation gain & loss, Pothole Dome (time-permitting): 1 mile, less than an hour, 200 feet of elevation gain & loss

Farewell to California!

Share one last breakfast with your fellow travelers, reflecting on the unforgettable moments, laughter, and friendships forged along the way. A group transfer to Fresno Airport (FAT) will depart your lodge at 9 AM for the drive back (just under three hours). Please be sure to book flights departing after 2 PM.

You can process your registration on our online booking system or over the phone. Most deposits are $800. In many cases, and unless otherwise indicated, your deposit is transferable if you notify us in writing 120 before your trip departs.

Be sure to check the ‘What’s Included’ section of the trip you are interested in. Once you get to the departure city and meet the group, we often include most meals, all accommodations, all activities (although there might be an optional activity at an additional cost), transportation while on the adventure, qualified local guide(s) and some trips also include an AdventureWomen Ambassador. Our trips do not include airfare to/from the arrival and departure cities. Internal flights are included.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! Many of the women who travel with AdventureWomen come solo. For those that do not choose a single supplement, we pair you with a roommate. Usually, when we change accommodations on a trip, we will change roommates if we can, so you get a chance to know others in our group. A limited number of single supplements may be available for an additional charge.

That depends entirely on the trip! AdventureWomen adventure travel trips are rated according to the physical fitness level demanded by the included activities.

  • Level One: Easy Pace Our Easy Pace trips are thoughtfully designed for women who enjoy gentle activity, cultural immersion, and plenty of time to savor the scenery. They feature light walking, easy terrain like cobblestone streets or flat nature trails, and optional activities such as city tours, wildlife safaris, and scenic boat rides. This level offers a relaxed pace with flexible itineraries and minimal physical exertion.
  • Level Two: Moderate For women who enjoy staying active, balanced with some downtime, our Moderate trips offer a blend of movement and relaxation. Activities may include walking on gently rolling trails, with occasional uneven terrain like forest paths or shallow creek crossings. With activities like beginner kayaking or short e-bike excursions, this level is perfect for those eager to explore while trying something new.
  • Level Three: Dynamic Designed for adventurous women ready for a challenge, our Dynamic trips feature regular activity on varied terrain with moderate elevation gains. Expect natural obstacles such as rocky paths and shallow creek crossings. From glacier walks and whitewater rafting to ziplining and kayaking in calm to lightly-choppy waters, this level is perfect for those with hiking and outdoor experience and a sense of adventure.
  • Level Four: High Energy Our High Energy adventures are designed for women who crave being on the go! You should be prepared for full days of hiking across rugged, moderate-altitude terrain. With some steeper inclines and rocky paths, these trips often feature back-to-back adrenaline-fueled activities like canyoneering, multi-day treks, and Class IV whitewater rafting—perfect for experienced adventurers and hikers with good stamina and a passion for pushing their limits.
  • Level Five: Challenging Our Challenging trips are crafted for seasoned adventurers ready to take on remote, high-altitude terrain, and full-day treks. These trips are demanding yet deeply rewarding and designed for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. You should be in excellent physical condition and be able to hike up to 14 miles per day with steep ascents, rugged trails, and elevations reaching 19,500 feet. These are strenuous trips that require endurance and a commitment to training before departure.
