Trip Overview

Explore Utah’s Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks in AdventureWomen style! Try canyoneering and hike among hoodoos through this iconic landscape, all while enjoying comfortable ranch living to round out each active and adventurous day.

Please note that this trip will be operated without an AdventureWomen ambassador.

Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks are two of Mother Nature’s greatest marvels, their gigantic canyons and erosion-carved forms layered in ribbons of red, yellow, and white. Begin at the 4,000-acre Zion Ponderosa Ranch. Over a tasty welcome dinner, get to know your Utah-based guides and fellow AdventureWomen travelers joining you to explore Utah’s canyon country.

Zion National Park & Bryce Canyon

Start with a drive through Zion National Park en route to the first hike of the week: a three-mile roundtrip hike showing off all the vastness of Zion and beyond. This is a beautiful vantage point that will surely make everyone excited for the week ahead.

The next day treats you to a choice between two spectacular morning hikes within Zion. You’ll have the opportunity to hike either part of the Emerald Pools or a portion of Angel’s Landing. Afterward, head to Zion Narrows, a deep slot canyon, where you will be wading portions of the Virgin River to reach wild hanging gardens and walk among the arcing walls. The following day, wake early for a hike to see the sunrise.

Harness up and join your friends and professional guides for the heart-pumping thrill of canyoneering! Whether you’ve never tried it before or you’re an “old hand,” this activity is suitable for everyone. Feed out the ropes as you descend step by step along steep red sandstone walls to land safely far down below. It might seem scary before you step out over the cliff, but by the time you reach the canyon floor, canyoneering might be your favorite sport!

Try out a new form of adventure today with a thrilling Can-Am ride. These four-wheeled vehicles are a cross between a motorcycle and an ATV and promise an adrenaline-filled experience!

Relax and get ready for an extra dose of charm as a local female chef from Orderville will come to us to cook dinner. You will be able to chat with her about the meal, get tips and tricks for delicious food preparation and hear more about her story and how she ended up living in Orderville.

Your week concludes with a spectacular farewell dinner to match a spectacular week. Wish each other a bon voyage, appreciating the camaraderie, the moxie, and the shared laughs that will be recounted and remembered often in the years to come.

Zion National Park

After breakfast, walk right out of your vacation home and take in the beautiful vantage point of the east side of Zion National Park. This hike, which is just under 3 miles, shows off all the vastness of Zion and beyond.

After hiking, head back to your room to quickly change before driving through Zion National Park. Today we won’t stop in the park, but you’ll hear stories about the history of how it became Zion National Park.

We will have a mid-morning/afternoon to explore the town of Springdale. Lunch is on your own today.

Meet back up with the group to pick up our rental equipment for the Narrows in Springdale before heading back to the ranch.

Have dinner as a group this evening.

After dinner, we will have the option of seeing the stars in the beautiful night sky. In 2021, Zion National Park became certified as an International Dark Sky Park in recognition of the exceptional quality of the park’s night skies.

Day 3

Zion National Park

This morning, there will be a choice between two great hiking options: The first option is to hike Emerald Pools which has lower, middle and upper pools. All hikes lead to sparkling waterfalls and glistening pools. Majestic sights can be seen all along the trails and our guides will point all of those out. It’s an easy 1.2 mile round trip to lower pools, 2 mile trip to middle pools, and 3 miles strenuous trip to the upper pools. The second option is to hike a portion of Angel’s Landing (starting in 2022, permits are required to climb from Scout Lookout to the top using chains). You can still enjoy the beautiful views as we start from the bottom of the canyon and hike to Scout Lookout while avoiding the permitted section.

After the morning hike, hop back on the shuttle and head to the furthest stop in the canyon to the Temple of Sinawava where we will hike the one-mile paved path to the Narrows. If weather permits, put on water shoes and hike through the water up to 1.5 miles. We will have a bag lunch to eat along the way.

Stop and return our Narrows rental equipment on the way back to the ranch where we will have dinner as a group.

Relax and get ready for an extra dose of charm as a local female chef from Orderville will come to us to cook dinner. You will be able to chat with her about the meal, get tips and tricks for delicious food preparation and hear more about her story and how she ended up living in Orderville.

Hiking Information: Emerald Pools: 1.5 hours, 3 miles, 700 ft elevation gain
Scout Lookout: 2 hours, 4.4 miles, 1600 ft elevation gain
Narrows: 2.5-3.5 hours, 5 miles, 500 ft elevation gain

Day 4

Zion National Park

Today we will head into the park very early to Canyon Overlook to see the sunrise. Watching the sun creep up behind you and see how the colors change on Zion in front of you is something you won’t forget.

Enjoy a little down time at the ranch before lunch.

This afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy horseback riding on the premises. Additionally, you’ll get to experience a new adventure with an exhilarating Utility Terrain (UTV) ride. These vehicles have 4 wheels, allow 2 individuals to sit side-by-side, and are a cross between a motorcycle and an ATV. They promise an adrenaline-filled experience (make sure you bring your Driver’s License along so you can drive the UTV)!

Enjoy dinner as a group.

After a long day, kick up your feet around the campfire with s’mores!
